Terms of Service

Effective date: 1 June 2026

Use Vernac for learning, don’t abuse it, and pay for Pro through your app store if you want the full experience. We work hard to keep the service up, but we can’t promise perfection — or that “sesquipedalian” will impress everyone.

1. Agreement

These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Pureheart Moluno (“we,” “us,” or “our”), the developer and operator of Vernac. By downloading, installing, or using the Vernac application or any related services, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use Vernac.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. We’ll give at least 14 days notice of material changes via in-app notification or email.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Vernac (or at least 16 in the EEA). By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement. Certain content categories (mature language and relationship vocabulary) are restricted to users aged 18 or older, verified by an in-app gate.

3. Your account

You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at contact@pmoluno.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

Guest accounts are available with limited functionality. Data from a guest account is lost if you uninstall the app before creating a full account — we’re not responsible for data loss from guest sessions. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are used for fraudulent or abusive purposes.

4. Free tier and subscriptions

4.1 Free tier

Vernac is free to download and includes a limited set of features at no charge, including a daily word allowance, basic practice modes, and community features. Free-tier users may see ads between sessions.

4.2 Vernac Pro

Vernac Pro unlocks unlimited words, all practice modes, AI-personalized content, widgets, wallpapers, ad-free experience, and other premium features. Plans:

• Monthly — billed every 30 days.
• Annual — billed once per year, includes a free trial as stated at purchase.
• Lifetime — one-time purchase, lifetime access to Pro features available at time of purchase.

4.3 Free trials

Free trials begin billing automatically at the end of the trial unless canceled before it expires. You’ll be notified before the trial ends if you opt in to billing reminders (on by default).

4.4 Billing and cancellation

Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store; Apple or Google process payments, we never handle your card details. Cancel through your App Store or Google Play account settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain Pro access until then. We don’t offer refunds except where required by law or App Store/Google Play refund policies.

4.5 Consumable purchases

Streak freezes and word packs are consumable in-app purchases; once used, they can’t be refunded or transferred.

4.6 Price changes

If we raise the price of your current plan, we’ll give at least 30 days notice, and your existing subscription continues at the old price until your next renewal.

5. Acceptable use

Don’t:

• Use Vernac unlawfully.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code.
• Circumvent access controls, subscription checks, or security measures.
• Submit false, misleading, or harmful content to community features.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Attempt unauthorized access to our systems or another user’s account.
• Use bots or automated tools without our written consent.
• Reproduce, distribute, or resell Vernac content without permission.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

6. User-generated content

Content you submit (practice-mode sentences, Word of the Day responses) grants us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and moderate it within Vernac. You retain ownership. You’re responsible for what you submit — don’t post content that’s offensive, illegal, or violates others’ rights. We may moderate, remove, or decline to display community content at our discretion.

7. Intellectual property

The app, word bank content, AI-generated example sentences, audio recordings, design, and branding are owned by or licensed to us and protected by IP law. “Vernac” and the Vernac “V” mark are our trademarks. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or use them without our written consent.

8. AI-generated content

Example sentences, context hooks, story content, and practice feedback may be AI-generated. While we review and curate AI output, we don’t guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose, and it may occasionally contain errors or outdated information. AI feedback on your sentences is for learning purposes only, not authoritative linguistic guidance.

9. Device identification

Vernac identifies your device using app-generated IDs (created at install time) and service-generated IDs (assigned by third-party services such as Expo and PostHog), used solely to operate and improve the service. We do not collect hardware identifiers (IMEI, MAC address, serial number, or similar).

10. Third-party services

Vernac integrates with Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, Anthropic, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, PostHog, Sentry, and Cloudflare. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms; we’re not responsible for third-party services or any external content we link to.

11. Disclaimers

Vernac is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don’t warrant uninterrupted, error-free, or virus-free operation. Vocabulary content is for general learning purposes and isn’t a substitute for professional editorial, linguistic, or academic guidance.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the greater of (a) what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) £10 / $10.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Vernac, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of a third party’s rights.

14. Termination

You can delete your account anytime from Settings → Account → Delete account. We may terminate or suspend access for violations of these Terms. Sections 7, 11, 12, 13, and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Unresolved disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection laws say otherwise. Before a formal claim, contact contact@pmoluno.com and give us 30 days to resolve the issue informally.
